“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change” – Carl Rogers
Sometimes life can become overwhelming. In the midst of the many challenges that we face it can be difficult to remember that it is okay to feel confused, frustrated, angry, sad, or apathetic.
As a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) my approach is client-centred. I assist people with discovering and accepting all the unique aspects of themselves, encouraging self-care and to speak freely without fear of judgement. The simple act of sharing our experiences and trials in our lives in a safe, non-judgmental space can help to begin the healing process. From there, many paths of exploration open as we bring awareness to behavioural patterns, family dynamics, experiences from the past or even from childhood. Often we may find ourselves repeating old habits and unsure of how to begin to make healthy shifts in behaviour to improve present day situations.
The subconscious is a powerful thing and we can unintentionally carry feelings of stress, anxiety, fear, or rage for much longer than they serve us. This is why it’s so important to me that the client has a positive and empathetic environment in therapy. To express ourselves honestly to others requires a feeling of safety, respect, and empathy. There are few things more empowering than to be reminded that you are not only okay, but more than capable of achieving anything you desire.
If you find yourself feeling stressed, anxious, experiencing relationship issues or want help to make changes in your life – it would be my privilege to work with you.
