Therapy can be a vague word and often people are not sure what happens inside of a therapy session, or how it may benefit them. Some people are understandably hesitant to share their personal stories with a therapist, who is essentially a complete stranger. Others just don’t wish to be pressured into talking about their feelings.
I would like to take a moment to assure you that while you are in a session with me, you never have to talk about something you don’t wish to. I believe in letting people present whatever facet of their lives they want to and leaving the rest until the time is right. I often tell my clients that there are no “wrong answers” in our sessions. Life is ultimately a unique journey for us all and my only job is to support you in your own healthy goals – never to tell you what they should or should not be.
For many people, the act of sharing their personal struggles in life can be tremendously, (even surprisingly) relieving. Simply knowing that we are not alone in our lives and hearing an objectively supportive point of view can be helpful.
It is my honour to listen, support and do my best to help all of my clients help themselves in whatever challenges they face.
